Overview

Ambi is designed with privacy as a core principle. Your personal data stays on your device unless you explicitly choose otherwise.

Data Collection

We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Ambi has no servers, no analytics, no tracking, and no telemetry.

On-Device Processing

All AI processing uses Apple’s on-device Foundation Models by default
Conversations, memories, and preferences are stored locally on your device using Apple’s SwiftData framework
Calendar and contact data is accessed locally through Apple’s EventKit and Contacts frameworks and is never transmitted off your device

Optional Cloud Model Usage

If you choose to enable cloud AI models (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, or xAI), the following applies:

The following data may be sent directly from your device to the cloud provider’s servers for processing:
- Your message — the text of the question or request you’re asking
- Relevant memories — stored memories from the active space that are relevant to your question (up to 8 items)
- Profile information — your name and “about you” description, if configured
- Space context — the name and description of the active space
Before any data is sent, Ambi shows you exactly what will be shared and asks for your explicit permission
No data is sent to cloud providers without your consent for each provider
Ambi does not route, intercept, store, or log any data sent to cloud providers
API keys you enter are stored in your device’s Keychain (Apple’s secure credential storage) and are never transmitted to us
Cloud provider usage is governed by that provider’s own terms of service and privacy policy:
You can remove cloud API keys at any time in Settings to return to fully on-device operation

Calendar & Contacts

Calendar and contacts data is accessed only when you grant permission and only when relevant to your request
This data is processed on-device and is never transmitted to any server (including cloud AI providers)
Calendar and contact data accessed by on-device tools stays on-device. If you ask about your calendar and then ask a follow-up question that escalates to a cloud provider, only your follow-up message is sent — not the calendar data from the previous response.
You can revoke these permissions at any time in iOS Settings

Data Storage

All data is stored locally on your device:

Conversations — stored in SwiftData (on-device database)
Memories — stored in SwiftData (on-device database)
Spaces — stored in SwiftData (on-device database)
API Keys — stored in iOS Keychain (hardware-encrypted secure storage)
Preferences — stored in UserDefaults (on-device)

Data Deletion

Delete the app to remove all locally stored data
Individual conversations can be cleared within the app
API keys can be removed in Settings at any time

Third-Party Services

Ambi does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The only third-party services involved are the optional cloud AI providers listed above, which you must explicitly enable and configure.

Children’s Privacy

Ambi does not knowingly collect or process data from children under 13. The app is intended for general audiences.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
